Forever Manchester are working with UK Community Foundations to distribute funding raised by the National Emergencies Trust Coronavirus Appeal. This money is being distributed to community organisations responding to the needs of local communities across Greater Manchester via the Community Support Fund.

Levenshulme Inspire is a community-led organisation which brings together people from many backgrounds to support and transform the local area. Located on the A6 in the heart of Levenshulme, Inspire is a multi-purpose community venue based inside a former church building. The beautiful, thriving and well-loved centre is a place where people can meet, learn, work, have fun and be inspired and encouraged to pursue their interests and turn their dreams into realities.

The centre is open to everyone, with a particular focus on supporting older people, those with mental health needs and ‘new arrivals’ to the local community including migrants, refugees and asylum seekers.

As a result of Covid-19, regular activities at the centre have been suspended, but Levenshulme Inspire are continuing to provide support in the community by ensuring that local people can be provided with food and a daily cooked meal.

With connections and established relationships with many local people, the centre hears and understands their many fears and concerns during this difficult time. It is also well placed to identify those most in need and vulnerable, especially older residents.

As well as providing regular cooked meals, Levenshulme Inspire also make weekly food parcels to support those normally receiving supplies from services which have been disrupted by the virus.

An award from Forever Manchester’s Community Support Fund is helping with the purchase of food supplies, essential staffing costs, utility supplies and hygiene equipment.
