Forever Manchester are working with UK Community Foundations to distribute funding raised by the National Emergencies Trust Coronavirus Appeal. This money is being distributed to community organisations responding to the needs of local communities across Greater Manchester via the Community Support Fund.

BreathChamps CIC, based in Sale, provide important support through free and subsidised activities for children and young adults with asthma. They also provide help, information and advice for parents, carers, neighbours and those in the community who support young sufferers.

BreathChamps use storytelling and play therapy techniques such as a puppet show, “The Big Bad Wolf Has Asthma” to provide support for young people. These techniques are also used to teach children in a fun and informative way and instil an understanding of inhalers alongside the importance of personal action plans and how to recognise and respond to asthma attacks.

As a result of Covid-19 the organisation is using social media platforms to deliver live broadcasts to provide useful information, advice and support to help sufferers and their families.

An award from Forever Manchester’s Community Support Fund has helped with the cost of a Zoom Licence, registered nurse session support, craft items and volunteer expenses to enable live chats and video presentations.
