From Halliwell to Horwich and from Farnworth to Westhoughton, community groups in Bolton have played an integral role to help those affected by Covid-19.

Through our Community Support Fund, Forever Manchester has helped many groups across Bolton provide essential support to those most at risk.

The Hub Westhoughton saw their volunteer numbers treble enabling them to distribute food packs as well as providing an errand service to help isolated individuals with essential shopping, prescription collection, dog walking and a telephone buddy service. The Horwich & District Hub hired a second storage unit to handle donations and enable continued provision of food and clothing.

The Farnworth & Kearsley Events Team provided support for homeless people and the Bolton Guild of Help significantly increased operating hours to provide support for local families and those applying for benefits, experiencing homelessness and requiring financial advice.

Paws for Kids and Precious Gems provided vital points of contact and help for domestic abuse victims while Changing Life Directions provided online activities and support for people with mental health issues.

The Transforming Lives group organised one to one support with socially distanced walks and bike rides, while Baby Basics Bolton & Bury (pictured) provided Moses baskets, toiletries, blankets and baby clothes to support single mum’s and local families dealing with various challenges.

The Flowhesion Foundation established a bi-lingual telephone service to provide emotional support for women from BAME communities with mental health concerns or experiencing domestic violence and social isolation.

During these uncertain times, the ability of local community groups and organisations to best help those most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic remains dependant on maintaining support for them.

Forever Manchester has delivered over £2.5 million in funding to support hundreds of community groups and organisations in Greater Manchester that have responded to the impact of Covid-19.
