We’re pleased to present the four companies that have been shortlisted for our Corporate Supporter of the Year award, to be announced at our Birthday Party on Friday 10th February.
We have now announced the nominees for all four of our Birthday Party awards. We’re pleased to present in more detail the companies that have demonstrated incredible commitment and support to the work Forever Manchester does, and are nominated for our Corporate Supporter of the Year award in recognition of this. The winner will have shown to us their ability to encourage their staff to raise funds, get involved and raise awareness of the Forever Manchester brand.
The award is sponsored by Brother UK. Brother UK is a subsidiary of Brother Group – the global electronics and manufacturing company. They provide sales, marketing, technical support, warehousing and distribution from their base in Tameside, where they have been since 1968.
Brother commented: “The team here at Brother are looking forward to celebrating another amazing year of successful support in our communities, together with all the passionate and dedicated team at Forever Manchester.
“The Corporate Supporter of the Year award sits close to our hearts here at Brother UK, and we are well into our second year of hosting a fund.
“We are particularly happy to have supported 3 main areas of need in Tameside over the last 18 months; The Elderly, Education and Local Enterprise. It has been so rewarding to have been able to offer a small donation, or provide skills and time from colleagues, to make a difference to our local community.

The nominees are:
Convergys
Convergys is an international telemarketing and business process outsourcing company with its head office in Cincinnati U.S.A. They handle customer service activity for many well-known high street brands. They employ 130,000 people worldwide in 150 locations across 33 countries. Three of their Manchester-based call centres are supporting us and Atlantic Point in Altrincham has raised over £3,000 since July. They are expecting to raise £10,000 per call centre during the year. They have run lots of fundraising events for us including a Football competition to coincide with the Euros, indoor Olympics, participated in Caketober, and have lots more events planned for the rest of the year and next. Both the company and the individual employees donate and fundraise for Forever Manchester.
Hologic
Hologic is an international medical equipment testing and manufacturing company. Their office, based in Wythenshawe, has supported us for the last two years. For more than 30 years, they’ve pushed the boundaries of science to deliver clearer images, simpler surgical procedures, and more efficient diagnostic solutions. They pursue ‘The Science of Sure’ to enable healthier lives – everywhere, every day. Although they are a relatively small team in Wythenshawe, they have a formal charity committee, have set themselves fundraising targets, and have come up with their own fundraising ideas as well as taking part in ours. Their company always matches the amount their staff raise and so far they have raised over £5,000 for Forever Manchester.
Auto Trader UK
Auto Trader merged six offices in May 2014, making a workforce of around 700 people at First Street in Manchester. Part of its ethos in moving to Manchester was “to make a difference” and to be known as a Manchester company. Auto Trader has supported Forever Manchester in many ways in this time including getting members of staff to take part in the Great Manchester 10k Run, donations from sales conferences, birthday parties and more, and hosting annual Christmas parties for 100 older people supported by Forever Manchester’s funding. All in all Auto Trader has raised £22,437 for Forever Manchester, and £50,000 for their Auto Trader Fund.
theEword
TheEword is an award-winning content marketing agency based in the Northern Quarter. They have supported Forever Manchester for a number of years and in a number of ways. In particular they have been the key partner in helping Forever Manchester to deliver its annual mammoth cake sale – Caketober. This is a month-long fundraising event where companies and community groups are encouraged to bake cakes, dress up and hold cake sales – and have fun doing it. Caketober has been running for the last four years and theEword very kindly manage the Caketober website and its content and help to fundraise – as well as taking part in the event. Dan Nolan and the team have demonstrated massive enthusiasm, passion and determination in making this annual fundraiser fun and enjoyable. Caketober 2016 raised a wonderful £8,000!

Guests at our Birthday Party will be treated to a welcome drink on arrival, three-course meal, entertainment from community groups Forever Manchester has funded, an awards ceremony and a special guest DJ.
