We are delighted to announce that we have supported 175 community groups across Greater Manchester to celebrate Christmas together this year.

Forever Manchester has always believed that connected communities make stronger, happier communities and love any activity that brings people together. That’s why, every summer and Christmas for the last few years, we’ve awarded funds so that people can host events in their communities.

Due to the huge appetite from community groups to celebrate Christmas with local people in their communities this year, we were able to fund 75 more groups than we had originally planned for.

We’re excited to be able to fund such a varied range of groups, and this year there’s everything from Stockport based group Inspire taking a trip to the Pantomine and Happy Days Special Needs Community Group in Wigan planning a Christmas cinema visit, to Grace Church Bolton hosting a Christmas Day lunch and Old Trafford Boxing Club providing the chance for people to come together over a mince pie and cup of tea. Daffodils Dreams CIC (pictured) used their funding to host a ‘Festive Friendship Afternoon’ where senior members of the community could come together in a warm and inviting environment to share stories and build new friendships.

All of the 175 funded community groups were also sent downloadable Christmas posters, and Forever Manchester Santa Hats were sent out across Greater Manchester to help add a little bit of festivity to their celebrations.

It is always worth remembering that if you support Forever Manchester, you support all this.

During these uncertain times, the ability of local community groups and organisations to best help people in their community remains dependant on maintaining support for them.
