It’s International Women’s Day on Sunday 8th March; a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women – while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender equality.

The IWD 2020 campaign theme is drawn from a notion of ‘Collective Individualism’, and chimes with the ethos and values that Forever Manchester holds. We are all parts of a whole. Our individual actions, conversations, behaviours and mindsets can have an impact on our larger society.

At Forever Manchester we believe that our communities have unlimited potential and boast thousands of talented individuals who know what they want and how to go about it. We believe that this potential is often overlooked and undervalued, but critical if we are to build happy, stronger, thriving communities.

Gender equality is essential for economies and communities to thrive. A gender equal world can be healthier, wealthier and more harmonious. But equality is not a women’s issue, it’s a business issue.

The race is on for the gender equal boardroom, a gender equal government, gender equal media coverage, gender equal workplaces, gender equal sports coverage and more gender equality in health and wealth.

This year, as well as celebrating 30 years of supporting community activity across Greater Manchester, we also celebrate that 43% of our Board of trustees are women, 50% of our senior management team are women, 65% of our staff team are women and 55% of the community groups we supported last year are female-led. #EachforEqual

So we’re STRIKING THE #EachforEqual POSE to motivate others and to make International Women’s Day your day.
