We have been saddened to hear of the passing of singer Denise Johnson aged 56.
Denise was an incredible singer who found herself at the centre of everything brilliant about Manchester music and first came to prominence as the vocalist in the late 1980s before going on to lend her incredibly powerful vocal energy to a wide array of bands that included: A Certain Ratio, Primal Scream, Electronic and New Order.
In February 2019, it was a privilege to have Denise perform to over 400 people as the headline act at our Annual Birthday Party where she showcased acoustic-led Manchester classics from her soon to be released album ‘Where does it go’.
