Information on Forever Manchester Awards 2022

For this round of Forever Manchester Awards, we specifically want to fund community groups in Greater Manchester whose activities alleviate the impact of the cost of living crisis.

Forever Manchester believes that connected communities make stronger, happier communities, so we love any activity that brings people together. Forever Manchester Awards support groups to run activities that do just this.

Forever Manchester is offering 30 awards of up to £1,000.

Fund Criteria

We welcome applications from locally managed community groups based in any of the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester.

For this round, we specifically want to fund groups whose activities alleviate the impact of the cost of living crisis on those who are most feeling it’s effects.

To apply, the core purpose of your group must be one of the following:

  • Foodbanks
  • Financial and welfare advice
  • Mental health support

We also welcome applications from organisations that are providing warm spaces throughout the winter months. See below for further details.

Who can apply?

Forever Manchester Awards aims to support grassroots community organisations. This means small, community-based and locally controlled groups that manage themselves, encourage people to get involved as volunteers and who just need a bit of financial help to be able to work with their community in the way they’d like.

Applicants must be based in one of the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester and have an annual income of less than £25,000.

As we expect this round of funding to be very popular, only groups whose core purpose is one of the following can apply:

  • Foodbanks
  • Financial and welfare advice
  • Mental health support.

This should be demonstrated in your organisation’s aims and objects as shown in your governing documents.

In the case of warm spaces, you must be responsible for paying the utilities for a space or be paying rent for the space you will be using. You must also be able to demonstrate that you are opening up as a warm space in addition to, or as an extension of, your usual activities.

Applicant organisations must have been established for at least 12 months.

Applications which do not meet the above criteria will not be considered for funding.

How much can you apply for?

The maximum award request that will be considered is £1,000.

What can you apply for?

Local groups understand how they can best help their communities at this time, so we don’t want to limit the type of request you can make as long as it is in line with the criteria above. You just need to let us know what you want to do and what positive things your activity will provide for your community.

Is there anything you can’t apply for?

Unfortunately, there are a few things that can’t be funded, such as activities that have already taken place or been paid for, contributions to major appeals or salaries, activities promoting political or religious beliefs and activity which should be provided by statutory services.

If you’re not sure if we could consider your application for funding, please contact a member of the Forever Manchester Communities Team, email awards@forevermanchester.com and we’ll be happy to help.
