Elwyn Horton decided to run the Salford 10k to raise money for Forever Manchester.

Elwyn is a keen theatre-goer and first came across FM at a performance of “Conceived in Curry House” by MaD Theatre Company, a community drama group, at the Lowry in 2016.

MaD Theatre Company is a charity that provides quality and affordable drama workshops for disadvantaged young people and adults of all abilities in the Greater Manchester area. They enable their members to gain experience and skills in all aspects of performance to increase their confidence, self-esteem and life skills, and to improve their education and employment opportunities by raising aspirations through the medium of drama. They are one of the many community initiatives supported by Forever Manchester.

Elwyn moved to Salford a couple of years ago when he retired, and saw the Salford 10k run as a way  to say thank you to everyone in the area who has been so friendly and kind as well as raising funds to help local community initiatives.

Elwyn is nearly 60 and this was his first run! He finished the 10k in under an hour and said: “Being my first ever race I decided to be the last man off and I got a cheer from the onlookers!” Overall his time put him 990th out of over 3,500!

So far Elwyn has raised over £650 including Gift Aid, to help our local communities! A massive Forever Manchester thank you to Elwyn for his heroic efforts!
