We are excited to announce a very special fundraising event taking place on Thursday 29th September at Escape to Freight Island. With guest host John Thomson, the Celebrity Pop Quiz is the perfect opportunity for a night out with friends or a chance to get the office together.
Since the start of 2022, one of Forever Manchester’s community friends, The Edge Theatre & Arts Centre in Chorlton, has been running a successful Celebrity Pop Quiz event with comedian, actor and all-round fabulous TV personality, John Thomson as MC/quiz master. Whilst The Edge takes a break until October 13th, it seemed like a perfect opportunity to move from the suburbs for a one-off event in the city centre.
John Thomson is already familiar with Forever Manchester, having headlined our Forever Funny comedy night so it’s great news that he will be quiz master for this special event. There’ll be themes such as Manchester Music, Name that Tune, Real Names and a Lyrics round.
Feeling up to the challenge? This Celebrity Pop Quiz is not your regular pub quiz. To claim the top spot, the winning team needs to be equipped with an impressive knowledge of popular music from all eras and genres. There will be prizes on the night – one for the winning team and several individual spot prizes throughout the evening.

Doors: 6pm
Quiz Starts: 8pm (with an interval)
A table is £90 with 6 people per team (£15 each).
Anyone with a ticket will be able to get 20% off food at Freight Island from 6pm until the quiz starts at 8pm. The bar will be open throughout the evening, with table service during the quiz.

About Your Host
John Thomson is a much loved comedian, narrator and actor. He was a long-standing cast member for the cult British comedy The Fast Show and became well-known for his role as Pete Gifford in the ITV hit comedy drama Cold Feet.
During his career he has also gathered a number of awards for his work as a stand-up comedian, comedy writer and actor, including a Perrier Comedy Award for his work at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Buy a Celebrity Pop Quiz ticket and you’ll be in for a treat with some of John’s brilliant impersonations making an appearance, including vocal visits from Tommy Cooper, Christopher Walken, Sylvester Stallone and even our own Tony Wilson, to name just a few.
