Think you know what a Rotary Club might do? Think again.

The Rotary Club in Bury have been running the Family Crisis Fund for the last 3 years, providing essential basic household items to families who are struggling. They work closely with other charities and local people who donate goods such as furniture, electrical equipment and bedding, as well as their time, to fundraise for those items that can’t be sourced for free.

Gary Titley, the ex MEP for the area and a donor to Forever Manchester, recently visited the Rotary Club along with some of our team to hear about their current work and plans for the future. Colin Williams, President of the Club, chatted to Gary about their plans for Christmas.

Rotary Clubs are known for their Santa Sleighs which bring lots of community cheer whilst fundraising for local groups, but the Rotary Club of Bury also has other ideas. During their work with the Family Crisis Fund, it became apparent that for some of those they work with, Christmas can be a particularly challenging time of year. This year, they will be putting together tailored hampers for identified families to give both practical support and a few treats that many of us take for granted.

Another project bringing smiles!
