We’re thrilled to announce that Manchester’s inclusive choir for men, The Sunday Boys, will perform at our Birthday Party at The Principal Manchester (formerly The Palace Hotel) on Friday 10th February 2017.
The Forever Manchester Birthday Party, sponsored by Express Solicitors, will bring together over 400 passionate and dedicated Forever Manchester supporters to celebrate another great year of helping local people do extraordinary things together.
The Sunday Boys are Manchester’s male voice sensation; an unauditioned, inclusive choir that rehearse on Sunday evenings in the city’s vibrant gay village.
The choir was started in January 2016 by composer and conductor, Michael Betteridge. Michael wanted to create a new male voice choir to brighten up Sunday evenings by bringing LGBT+ and straight men together and to sing exceptionally. Over the past year The Sunday Boys has grown from small beginnings to perform at prestigious gigs in the city and beyond representing Manchester’s LGBT+ arts scene, the city’s community singer (‘Singing in the City’ at the Royal Exchange) and working with leading poets (‘Volumes’ with Ian and Andrew McMillan at Rochdale Literature and Ideas Festival).
Ed Moss, Chair of the Organising Team, adds: “We sing the songs together that we love as individuals. We come together to sing, and in doing so we meet new people and build great friendships. The Sunday Boys now spills over into the week, with spontaneous social gatherings and trips to share Manchester life together.
“We are really excited to be performing at the Birthday Party to celebrate with the community, and are honoured to have been invited by Forever Manchester to do so. There is nothing like singing to show, proudly, what is possible when you work together; which is what this event is all about.”
The Sunday Boys will join Red Hot Flames and The Circus House in our incredible community performances line-up – it will truly be an evening to remember.

Guests at our Birthday Party will be treated to a welcome drink on arrival, three-course meal, entertainment from community groups Forever Manchester has funded, an awards ceremony and a special guest DJ.

All proceeds from ticket sales will be reinvested in communities across Greater Manchester.
