We’ll never sell your personal data and will only share it with organisations we work with when it’s necessary and the privacy and security of your data is assured.

This privacy policy explains how and why we use your personal data, to make sure you stay informed and can be confident about giving us your information. If you are aged 16 or under, please get your parent/guardian’s permission before you provide any personal information to us.

Who are “we”?

Forever Manchester provides and is responsible for the Forever Manchester website. When you use our website and provide information to us, Forever Manchester is the data controller of your personal information. That means we decide how your personal data we receive is processed and for what purposes.

Forever Manchester is a charity registered in England & Wales with number 1017504, and a company limited by guarantee registered in England & Wales with number 2785133. Forever Manchester Trading Limited (registered Company in England & Wales no. 06874910) is a wholly owned subsidiary of ours which trades on our behalf. Within the context of this Privacy Policy “Forever Manchester” and “We” mean both Forever Manchester and Forever Manchester Trading Ltd.

We are also registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office with registration number Z7369896.

How we use your personal data

Personal data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data).

The type and amount of information we collect depends on why you are providing it. Your personal data may be collected and used to help us deliver our charitable activities, help us raise funds, or complete an order or request. The personal information we collect might include:

All online financial transactions will be encrypted using SSL (Secure Socket Layers) and any payment card details (such as credit or debit cards) we receive on our website are passed securely to our payment processing provider according to the Payment Cards Industry Security Standards.

Do we process sensitive personal information?

Applicable law recognises certain categories of personal information as sensitive and therefore requiring more protection, including health information, ethnicity and political opinions. In limited cases, we may collect sensitive personal data about you. We would only collect sensitive personal data if there is a clear reason for doing so and will only do so with your explicit consent.

  • sending you information about Forever Manchester, our activities (including our fund raising activities), our campaigns, our events and for marketing purposes (including via Facebook and other social media channels)
  • processing a donation that you have made
  • processing the purchase of a tombola ticket
  • processing an order from our online shop
  • processing an application for funding
  • processing a job application
  • processing information for when you sign-up to attend our events
  • responding to correspondence you have sent to us

When you visit our site, we sometimes collect information that enables us to identify you and provide you with a more personalised service. We also aggregate statistics about our supporters to enable us to operate more effectively, but these statistics do not include information which can identify individuals.

We will not contact you for marketing purposes unless you have given your express consent. If you have consented to receive marketing, you may opt out at any time at any time by simply clicking on the unsubscribe link in the footer of our emails.

If you have consented to receive marketing, we may occasionally contact you to ask if you would be prepared to help us with our market research, although participation is purely voluntary.

How long will we keep your data?

If you support Forever Manchester by donating, taking part in one of our fundraising activities, attending an event, volunteering, signing up to our marketing list, or purchasing a tombola ticket or a product from our online shop, we will keep your data for three years after your last activity. After this time, your data is deleted.

If you receive funding, support and advice from our communities team, we will keep your data for three years after your last activity. After this time, your data is deleted.

If you want us to stop holding your data at any time you can contact us and request that we stop processing your data. (See the section below entitled “your rights”).

Who do we share your information with?

We may need to share your information with third parties in order to provide you with our services. We sometimes use third parties to process your information on our behalf (for example, to process donations, send out mailings, or analyse data).

When you are using our secure online donation pages or make a purchase through the website, your donation or payment is processed by a third party payment processor, who specialises in the secure online capture and processing of credit/debit card transactions. Where we do share your information with third parties, Forever Manchester ensures that the highest levels of data protection are in place in accordance with the law. Third parties with whom we share data are only permitted to process this data for the specified purposes we stipulate with them and are not permitted to use the data for their own direct marketing purposes.

Data Security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal data on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.

Transferring your information outside of Europe

Where possible, we ensure that your data is stored within the European Economic Area (EEA), however some of our storage locations and service providers may be hosted outside of the EEA. Where we transfer data to the United States, we ensure our providers are certified as part of the EU-US Privacy Shield programme. If no safeguards are available, we will only transfer your data with your explicit consent.

Our website may contain information linked to or provided by other companies. They are outside of our control and not covered by this Privacy Policy. Please be aware that, should you access other sites using the links provided, the operators of these sites may have a privacy notice which differs from our own.
