“Beautiful, busy, chaos and that’s not even the half of it!” – Lisa, Community Builder The community of Lancashire Hill have been pulling out all the stops to create a busy, vibrant and fun Holiday Club right in the heart of Stockport this summer!
Since April 2023, our Community Builder Lisa Kershaw has been working closely with a group of local parents from the community of Lancashire Hill in Stockport. With Lisa’s support and guidance they have now fulfilled their dream of hosting a whole summer of activities for local families! Lisa explains: – “When they said they’d love to run a holiday club to support local families over the summer break, I immediately said ‘Sure! Why not! Let’s do it!’ By encouraging the ladies to take the lead themselves, with a bit of support from me and Louise from Stockport Homes, as well as support from Stockport Family Hubs and local charity R-Time, the group have created something magical that has meant so much to local families.”
Over the course of the sessions, the group have run activities including: – painting cups/pot holders, decorating their own jackets (all with items donated with thanks from the Manchester Shop), shared a picnic, enjoyed an Art Day, had tons of outdoor play and of course Spikey Mike’s disco party! But with the summer holidays nearly at a close, there is still so much to come! There’s a nature hunt, a pizza workshop, bike workshop (kindly led by Councillor Frizzell), a jewellery making day, art workshops, and culminating with Back 2 School community party! We’re immensely proud of the local parents of Lancashire Hill and with more events being planned as we speak, watch this space for an update next month!
