We are delighted to announce that our Chief Executive, Nick Massey, has been awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in His Majesty The King’s Birthday Honours List. This prestigious honour recognises Nick’s outstanding dedication and service to the community over the past 27 years at Forever Manchester. Throughout this time, he has been instrumental in championing and supporting community activity across Greater Manchester, helping to empower local people, build stronger neighbourhoods, and create lasting, positive change. Commenting on the award, Nick said: “I feel extremely privileged and even more surprised to receive a CBE. I’d assumed it was a clerical error. This recognition really belongs to the incredible team at Forever Manchester, the Board of Trustees, our volunteers, our supporters, the communities we work with every day and my wife Debbie who has supported whatever I’ve chosen to do for 40 years. I’ve been very lucky to have been able to be a cheerleader for local community groups and the amazing work they do. It’s an honour to be part of something that genuinely makes a difference in Greater Manchester. I’ll have to try my best to live up to the fancy letters after my name.” Sandy Lindsay MBE, acting chair, commented: “I’ve worked with Nick for more than sixteen years and he has never stopped innovating, pushing us forward and, most importantly, caring. His passion for the communities he serves makes him a role model well worthy of this accolade, no matter how uncomfortable it makes him! “I hope all the Trustees, the exec and staff teams over the years won’t mind me speaking on their behalf when I say: chuffing hell, brilliant work, chuck!” This award is a testament to the power of community and the impact of grassroots initiatives; initiatives to which Forever Manchester has awarded more than £65 million across Greater Manchester since 1989. These funds have supported everything from food banks and refugee support networks, to junior football teams and knit and natter groups. This honour is the perfect way to see Nick’s hard work highlighted and rewarded.
