Manchester Refugee Support Network (MRSN) is a grass-roots organisation managed by refugee communities in Manchester. For over 24 years, they have been providing practical support to those fleeing persecution, conflict, and various forms of injustice and abuse. They help asylum seekers and refugees get the basic support that they need to help them build safe, happy and productive lives in the UK. MRSN’s main aims are to support, empower and educate their members, with services designed to give them to tools to resettle and integrate into society. Starting with immediate issues like housing, clothing, food, and permission to stay, they provide weekly drop-in sessions to help their members build long-term security around these issues. This also involves overcoming work-related problems such as acquiring new skills and getting existing skills and qualifications recognised. They also focus on long-term plans for their members, including building relationships in the community, getting involved in local life, improving personal well-being and quality of life, and generally being a happy and active member of society. Services like Manchester Refugee Support Network are vital resources in their local communities, helping people feel safe, secure, and giving them a sense of belonging.
