Tony Walsh, a poet with a deep connection to Manchester, is known for his powerful performances and passionate advocacy for the city and its people. He has a long history of working with Forever Manchester, who originally commissioned his now famous ‘This is the Place Poem., which he donated for their sole use. His work has long been celebrated for its ability to unite and inspire, making him a perfect fit for Forever Manchester’s work.
Nick Massey, Chief Executive of Forever Manchester, commented: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Anna and Tony as our patrons. Both have a strong and enduring connection to Greater Manchester and share our commitment to amplifying the voices of local people. Their involvement will be invaluable in raising awareness of the important work we do and helping to support communities across the region. These are unpaid roles, and their commitment to supporting us in this way is hugely appreciated.” Anna Jameson said: “I’m incredibly proud to join Forever Manchester and work alongside the amazing team that’s helping to transform lives across Greater Manchester. I’m passionate about telling the stories of those who often go unheard, and Forever Manchester’s work shines a light on the people who are making a difference in their communities. I really look forward to getting involved and learning more about the issues facing local communities.” Tony Walsh added: “As a poet, I’m driven by the power of words to bring people together, and Forever Manchester’s work embodies that sense of unity and hope. I’ve been working with Forever Manchester for a number of year’s, initially as their first Poet in Residence, and more recently hosting their annual birthday event. I’ve seen firsthand how local communities can achieve extraordinary things, and I’m thrilled to be taking on this new role with them. Anna and Tony will co-host Forever Manchester’s Annual Birthday Party at the Kimpton Clock Tower Hotel on Friday 7th February 2025, where they will help celebrate the charity’s ongoing work with the community.
