The Forever Manchester Community Builder team have been busy so far this summer, organising pop-ups for families to get involved with. As part of the ABCD approach, the team led a summer treasure hunt for children in Victoria Park in Swinton. Giving out a range of treats, from snacks and jelly beans to pens and free backpacks, this was used as a way to connect with members of the community, getting to know them, their hobbies, and their interests. The most important thing in building a stronger, more connected community is to involve the people that live there. People are the community’s biggest asset and form the building blocks of a strong and healthy community. Lisa, Vikki, and Kellie were buzzing with the turnout, with over 46 families taking part and connecting with each other. By working closely with people at a grassroots level and using our knowledge of Asset-Based Community Development, we help communities turn their ideas and aspirations into a reality.
