Taking place in Swinton and Scholes by Kellie and Vikki respectively, each area had its own Halloween pop-up this week. Pop-ups like these allow the Community Builders to connect with members of the community to see what their interests, passions, and skills are, what ideas they may have for new community activity, and how we can support them to turn their ideas into a reality. Connecting with over 300 children over just two days, the Community Builders championed the ABCD approach and spoke with lots of individuals and families. And they absolutely loved the Kelloggs Halloween-themed Rice Krispy Scares! As the most important asset of a community, the residents showed true community spirit to celebrate Halloween and get involved with us. But don’t just take our word for it, take a look below and see how well people have connected over the last week. However, going to parties and holding pop-ups isn’t all our Community Builders do. They’re out in communities day-in day-out discovering people’s assets, connecting those assets, all with amazing support from our amazing Business Supporters and Ambassadors. They stand side by side with the community, advocating for them, their area, and celebrating all the strengths the community has to offer. One such achievement was the pop-up in Scholes this week. This party was held by a group called The Girls Club, which had been set up to support women in Wigan. While the party was for the children, the aim was to connect with the women that would be there, to make more connections within the area. This is the ABCD approach in action.
