We’re delighted to announce the This is The Place Award shortlist which will be presented at Forever Manchester’s Birthday Party on Friday 7th February 2025 at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel. This award is given in recognition of a group working with their community to improve their local environment and sustainability. Deaf Rhinos Ran by members of the deaf community, Deaf Rhinos provide sporting opportunities for disabled people, such as an open-age football team. Drawing on personal experience, the team at Deaf Rhinos provide accessible, high-quality activities designed to empower the disabled community. Fallowfield Secret Garden Based in the heart of South Manchester, the volunteers at Fallowfield Secret Garden have transformed a once neglected piece of land into a vibrant, thriving community space, thoughtfully designed to foster wildlife habitats and meet the needs of local people. Greenmount Village Community Launched in 2010, The Greenmount Village Community Project is a volunteer-driven initiative that aims to enhance Greenmount Village’s appearance, define its identity, and improve public spaces for the well-being of residents and visitors. Moss Side Community Garden Moss Side Community Garden is a volunteer-run group that manages a shared garden space for local people. Offering gardening sessions to people of all ages, their goal is to foster a sense of connection with the community, encouraging people to plant, garden, and grow their own food. Ardwick Climate Action Working closely with the community, Ardwick Climate Action are dedicated to the protection and enhancement of their local environment. Their efforts include restoring green spaces, tracking pollution, advocating for climate policies that benefit everyone, and partnering with local organisations and businesses to ensure they are creating the biggest impact possible.
