String of Hearts CIC is a community arts organisation that connects older adults through music, helping to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing in later life.

Taking place across Trafford and Wythenshawe, sessions include group music workshops and showcase events. Activities are group-led, responding to each individuals’ ideas. No musical experience is required, just a love of creativity and a desire to make music and friends! Members are encouraged to express their thoughts and ideas in group sessions, actively taking part in singing, writing lyrics, and exploring different musical styles and instruments.

Participants can share their stories, ideas and aspirations in a safe space, showcasing their creations to the public with the support of professional musicians. The aim is to simply have some fun and be creative together – showcasing the talents of members in the community.

String of Hearts also offers a free music phone call service for over 55’s living in Trafford and Wythenshawe,, who are not able to access the groups social or creative activities in person. The Music Hotline is designed for member of the community who are isolated, house bound, living with physical or mental health conditions, or don’t have internet access. Through a series of phone calls with a professional musician, they can explore their favourite music and sing or write lyrics based on their personal interests.

Self-expression and creativity is positively encouraged at String of Hearts, whilst new friendships and connections are found through a shared love of music.
