Our Manchester Million friends, ANS Group, took fundraising to new limits this month as 13 courageous (and slightly crazy) members of the team took on Tough Mudder for Forever Manchester.
Not one for the fainthearted, Tough Mudder, is a 12.5 mile obstacle course designed by the Special Forces. The self-styled “Tough Mudder Fudders” from ANS had their strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie tested as they ploughed through mud, fire, ice water and 1,000 volts of electricity in the hills of Cheshire.
Out of 13 challengers, 13 triumphed – crossing the finish line as a team after 4 hours – albeit covered head to toe in mud, cuts and bruises, physically and mentally exhausted, and some even turning blue, but all brimming with an enormous sense of achievement.
The team have raised £1,200 so far and they’re still accepting donations at www.justgiving.com/anstoughmudders. Everyone at Forever Manchester sends their thanks and salutes the team for going that extra (12.5) mile!
Sophie Cornock, one of the ANS challengers, says “I had no idea what I was letting myself into when I signed up for Tough Mudder…and now I think that’s probably for the best! It was a long 12 and a half miles of mud bogs, water, ice plunges and electrocution obstacles, but we all came out stronger the other side.
“The ANS group finished as we started…as a team, and despite going blue at the end and not being able to feel my legs… knowing we were raising money for a great cause, Forever Manchester, just made us even more determined to finish. Hoo-rah!”
