Breakfast Clubs in Trafford and Oldham gave over 5,500 breakfasts in the summer weeks to local families.

We are pleased to announce that help from our Community Builders and funding from Kellogg’s allowed community groups to serve over 5,500 breakfasts.

The breakfast clubs in Lostock, Stretford and Oldham were a huge hit over the school holidays, as reported in our fanzine last month.

The clubs, set up by local residents were so successful that the communities plan to continue them.

In Stretford, the club hopes to reopen during every school break, the leader of the Lostock club plans to hold cookery classes for local residents, which she is hoping to turn into a café and the club in Alt is set to become a community café, which will hopefully be opened in November.

The café in Alt has been funded by Forever Manchester and First Choice Homes. We awarded the café with a grant, which has enabled them to buy the necessary cooking equipment needed to run a café and First Choice Homes have kindly allowed residents to use the unit free of charge.

Overall, this is great news and we are very pleased to see so many families benefitted from the Summer Breakfast Clubs.
