Forever Manchester’s sixth annual 7-a-side charity football tournament, held at FC United’s Broadhurst Park on Friday 25th March, saw St4nd, coming out on top beating Express Solicitors on penalties in the final.

The tournament which traditionally attracts local businesses, saw two community organisations taking part, ‘Supporting People In Need’ from Ardwick and St4nd from Stockport. Winners St4nd provide organised activities to encourage socially isolated children and young people to make and sustain friendships with their peers, as well as providing an after school homework and youth club.

As well as raising £3,500 for Forever Manchester to fund and support community activity across Greater Manchester, the tournament provided businesses with the opportunity for staff to come together as a team as well as meeting, and networking, with other local businesses. It was also great to see a number of women taking part for the first time too.

We would like event sponsor Auto Trader, the three referees who oversaw the four group matches, semi-final and final, and also FC United’s first team manager Neil Reynolds who assembled two teams from FC United Academy Teams at short notice, to take the place of two businesses who were unable to field a team.

But most importantly we’d like to say a huge thank you to all the organisations that took part.
