“Because this a place where we stand strong together
With a smile on our face, Mancunians Forever”
We are encouraging people across Greater Manchester to come together with neighbours and friends over the weekend of 22nd-24th June 2018 as part of the ‘Great Get Together’. The national celebration marks the 44th birthday of the MP Jo Cox who was killed in 2016.
Following the anniversary of the Manchester Arena terror attack on 22nd May, thousands of people once again came together in Manchester to Choose Love. Forever Manchester believe that connected communities make stronger, happier communities and love any event that brings people together, so we’re delighted to offer our support to people who wish to celebrate where they live with a party!
Forever Manchester has some money available to support groups of people who might need a bit of extra help to stage their event. At last year’s inaugural Great Get Together, Forever Manchester helped fund 50 events, and in December we helped spread ‘Miles of Smiles’ supporting 150 Great Christmas Get Togethers.
If you need a bit of financial support to host your ‘Great Get Together’, you can apply for funding from midday on 25th May. Your event could be big or small, indoors or out, it’s entirely up to you. It could be a street party, a barbecue, a game of football or an afternoon tea – whatever you and your neighbours decide.
To be eligible to receive money to help with your event you must first sign up on the official Great Get Together website.
Sign up at www.greatgettogether.org
You can then apply for funding between 25th May and midday on 8th June. Successful applicants will be notified no later than 15th June.
We can’t wait to see what you all have planned this year!
Because this is the place in our hearts, in our homes
Because this is the place that’s a part of our bones
‘Cos Greater Manchester gives us such strength from the fact
That this is the place. We should give something back.
Always remember. Never forget. Forever Manchester.
