This weekend, Gorton Carnival took place in Debdale park.
The annual carnival celebrates all things about community; bringing together tonnes of community projects to celebrate just how great their local area is!
The Great Gorton Carnival took place at Debdale Park, from 12:00pm until 4:30pm on Sunday 6th September 2015.
At the great Gorton Carnival you can: experience live performances, see dance troupes, enjoy a fun fair, watch a dog show, participate in multi-sports, hear a jazz band, see fire engines, enter a bowls competition, play giant games, browse market stalls, witness birds of prey, meet the Army and much more.
The parade started at All Saints School at 11am dropping at Gorton Market at 11.30am where you can enjoy one hour of entertainment from Bungee Jumping to Dancing Troops & Market stalls & lets of shopping.
The parade leaves at 12.30pm and arrives in Debdale Park at 1pm. Last year saw saw more than 10,000 people take part in the day.
These carnivals and festivals happen across Greater Manchester throughout the summer, though with this weekend being the last weekend of the summer it’s likely this is the last one for this year, but as soon as Spring comes, be sure to be on the lookout for these in your local area.
They give you the chance to meet people living in your local community as well as learn about activities which are happening in your area that you may not have known about before, but may have an interest in.
These carnivals also focus on what’s strong in a community, not what’s wrong, just like Forever Manchester.
We hope everyone heading down there this weekend has a great time!
