Stitched-Up is a community group who encourage individuality, pride and sustainability through fashion and style.
As well as being a place where people can go and learn to sew, Stitched-Up also offer a cosy, fun space to meet new people.
Funded earlier this year, Stitched-Up have recently launched a host of new workshops, including their ‘Fix It Friday’ workshop.
Happening every Friday, 1-4pm at their Chorlton workshop, people are invited to go along and learn to fix their old garments that need a little bit of TLC before coming back out of the wardrobe.
Thanks to the funding from Forever Manchester, Stitched-Up are able to offer their attendees a 50% discount. If a person is on Job Seekers Allowance or similar, they are entitled to this 50% discount, meaning the cost is £2.50 for half an hour of tutorial time, instead of £5.
Stitched-Up came about in 2011, when six women who shared a passion for fashion came together.
So far, their Fix It Friday workshops have been successful, and have seen people mend their old clothes to give them a new lease of life. The women in charge are now hoping that there will be more attendees now children have returned to school.
If you are interested in attending any of these workshops, visit the Stitched-Up website, or alternatively contact them on firstname.lastname@example.org or 0161 881 7141.
The workshops take place at:517 Wilbraham Road Chorlton M21 0UF
