At Forever Manchester our ethos is about matching the skills and talents of local people to make extraordinary things happen.
That’s exactly what we did with Lloyds TSB and 6/15th St. John Fisher FSE Scout Group in Middleton on Friday 16th August.
As part of the company’s “Give and Gain Day” (where employees are allowed to take one day a year to volunteer or support a charity), Lloyds was looking for a local community group for its staff to assist.
We matched Lloyds with the Scouts who wanted to make the land around St. John Fisher Church more child-friendly. The bank employees spent the day hard at work tidying and clearing the area which was overgrown with small trees, brambles, weeds and moss.
Chris Dakin of the Scout group says, “The team worked so hard and have made a big impact on the area behind our church – so much so that the Cubs and Scouts can now plant seeds and go into the area which has been made safe to use.
“Our church members and Parish Priest want to also say thank you to Forever Manchester and Lloyds. The work means that older parish members can now walk around the grounds without worrying about tripping.”
