Forever Manchester Ambassador and creator of the exceptional Mirror Ball went to meet Queen Elizabeth II on 12th May.

In recognition of the amazing work he has done supporting Forever Manchester, on Tuesday 12th May Andrew Trott-Barn attended the prestigious garden party at Buckingham Palace where he met our Queen as well as other members of the Royal family including Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall alongside fellow Mirror Ball organiser and Forever Manchester Ambassador Relationship Manager Emma James (pictured together en route).

The Mirror Ball this year celebrated it’s 5th year, and has now raised over £186,000 for us to reinvest into the communities of Greater Manchester, which is absolutely incredible.

Andrew also began a spin-off of the Mirror Ball called the Halloween Spooktacular in 2013, which we saw for the second time in 2014. This has raised £8,460 so far and is on its way to being as successful as its big sister. This takes Andrew’s total to £194,460 which is why he was this year recognised at our 25th Birthday celebrations as our Fundraiser of the Year. Andrew is our most successful fundraiser of all time, and Forever Manchester are extremely grateful of his continuous support.

Andrew is one of the most deserving people of this prestigious invite, as he works tirelessly and completely voluntarily to raise huge amounts of money for us every year.

The Mirror Ball is put together by Andrew and his team of Forever Manchester Ambassadors, who include Natalie Gray, Suzie Bell, Siobhan Hanley and Daisy Pickles. The team use their solid network across Manchester to bring the whole event together every year and ensure it all goes smoothly from start to finish.

The Mirror Ball has cemented its place in Manchester’s social calendar. With guests such as Helen Flanagan, Catherine Tyldsley, Peter Hook, Rowetta and other stars of Hollyoaks and Coronation Street, it prides itself in being one of the most glamorous and press-worthy red carpet events the city has to offer.

Andrew loves what we do here at Forever Manchester and says: “The important thing to remember about Forever Manchester is that everything you raise stays within the 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester, which isn’t the case with most charities you raise funds for. You often raise money which leaves your area, but this doesn’t happen with Forever Manchester. Another great thing about them is that they help and support a variety of people in need, such as the homeless, older people, disabled people and health and wellbeing groups while bringing communities together at the same time. I love Forever Manchester because it has a fun and vibrant buzz about it, if you aren’t involved then you should be. It’s important to give back, and what better way to do it than the way Forever Manchester do? They do things the Mancunian way, and the right way.”

Of Andrew’s invitation to meet the Queen due to his excellent work with Forever Manchester, Nick Massey Chief Exec said: “I’m delighted that Andrew has been given this chance to visit the Palace. It’s an appropriate reward for his passion, commitment and care for local communities throughout Greater Manchester.”

Forever Manchester is pleased to hear Andrew had a fantastic day and the weather stayed fine for him too!
