Captain’s Blog: Xtra Happy Day

February 29, 2016

“Happiness, happiness, the greatest gift that I possess, I thank the Lord that I possess more than my share of happiness”

Ah…Ken Dodd, Doddy, the Doddster – what a tune – what a guy – what am I talking about?

It was the first tune that sprang to mind this morning as I bounced out of bed – February 29th – a leap year – an extra day – an opportunity to be happy day, so much so that we’ve declared it  Xtra Happy Day here in Forever Manchester Land and I’m on a mission to induce some happiness wherever I go today.

Ignore the fact that if you’re on a salary, you’re working for nowt today or if you were born today in 1998 you’re only 4 ½ and let’s grin the face off the sucker.

Today we’re going to try and create a mile of smiles on social media, so why not join in the fun and send us a picture of your best happy face using the hashtag #xtrahappy and see if we can turn the internet happy.

Download, cut out and don our smile here.

And why are we doing this? Well at Forever Manchester we believe everyone should have the opportunity to be happy so we want to draw your attention to a few important happy facts:

Firstly what makes one person happy is frequently different from the next, but one common thread shines through, which is that being happy is associated with better health. Happy people tend to eat healthier, exercise more, and get better sleep than those who are stressed out or depressed – all habits associated with health.

Secondly happiness causes unique changes in your body that toughen up your immune system, boost positive emotions, decrease pain and chronic disease, provide stress relief, and  much more…

Scientific research has even shown that your psychological well-being is linked with a lower risk of heart disease, as well as lower blood pressure, normal body weight, and healthier blood fat profiles.

So come on dudes, it’s an Xtra Day – let’s make use of it!

Catch me out and about today as I attempt to capture chuckles from our good friends at Weber Shandwick, UKFast, Tunafish Media, theEword and AutoTrader.
