Scarecrows to bring the community together
On Saturday 26th September people of Kearsley (Bolton) will come together for their very first scarecrow festival.
There will be 211 scarecrows in the Kearsley area which includes Stoneclough, Ringley and Prestolee Village. The scarecrows have been created by local residents, businesses, organisations and groups. There will be 7 scarecrow trail maps available in the event programme. You can choose to complete one trail map or all seven trail maps.
The aim of the event is to bring the community together and attract visitors from far and wide, as well as raising funds for a local worthwhile cause. This year the funds raised will go towards purchasing public access defibrillators which will be installed in the area to make Kearsley a safer place to live.
This is a great example of a community coming together with a fun idea to raise funds for a good cause and build community spirit. At Forever Manchester as well as supporting local groups we are always on the lookout for great ideas and examples of community activity to celebrate and the people of Kearsley should definitely be proud of what they’ve achieved.
If you live in the local area, please go along and support the event. It will be a fun day out scarecrow hunting for all the family. Event programmes will be available to purchase at the cost of £2
