Payroll Giving
Wouldn’t it improve your working day a little bit if you knew you were helping to improve people's lives just by being at your desk or sitting through a riveting presentation? Well, with payroll giving you can – by making a regular donation to Forever Manchester directly from your salary.
Payroll Giving is a simple, tax-efficient and flexible way to give - before you are taxed. Your pledge is deducted from your pay before tax, so that the cost to you is much less than your final donation.
Did you know that if you donate £10 a month from your pay, your gift will only cost you £7.80? The Inland Revenue gives us the extra £2.20! (At the basic rate of taxation) – this means that money that would have gone to the Inland Revenue goes directly to help local causes instead.
This is a far more effective way of giving than simply sticking your money in a collection tin on the street, where you have no idea where it is actually going.
Donations raised in this way will not disappear around the country; your giving will stay in Greater Manchester. Once your donation is set up, you don't have to do anything more but sit back with the knowledge that every penny you’ve donated will be used to improve the lives of local people across Greater Manchester.
Find out from your payroll department if your company already has a payroll giving scheme set up, ask to join it or amend your pledge form if you have one already set up.
The process should be simple and you will be able to pledge a regular amount to Forever Manchester by simply adding us to your chosen charity to support (quote registered charity no. 1017504). If your company doesn't have a payroll giving scheme, we’ll be happy to help your payroll department set one up.
It’s an easy process and involves completing a short registration form and agreement. To find out more email info@forevermanchester.com
Leave a permanent footprint in the community
Making a will is the best and simplest way to safeguard everyone's future and ensure your assets go to the people and causes closest to your heart. If you die without a legal will, your estate will still be divided up - but by the courts, not you.
Having a will in place makes life easier for those left behind, and helps eliminate misunderstandings. If you have children, you can safeguard their future by providing for them financially and, where necessary, appointing a legal guardian.
With your solicitor's help you might also be able to minimise the inheritance tax payable on your estate. More and more people are leaving gifts to say thank you to the local community or to help those less fortunate than themselves.
Forever Manchester offers an ideal way to leave a legacy in your will that will be carefully administered according to your instructions for generations to come. It will associate your name with the community you loved forever.
There are a number of ways in which you can leave a legacy:
We advise you to use a professional adviser such as an accountant or solicitor to draft your will, this guarantees that your wishes will be carried out.
If you have already made a will it is easy and inexpensive to add a Codicil naming the charity of your choice and the amount of the gift.

Gifting shares
Make a substantial tax saving when giving shares as a gift. The government has made it more tax-efficient than ever before to make a charitable gift.
By giving shares to Forever Manchester it is possible to make a substantial tax saving, not only on capital gains tax but on income tax as well.Income tax relief.
The relief from income tax is available for the full market value of the shares on the date of disposal. In other words, you will not pay income tax on the equivalent amount of your annual income in the tax year that the gift is made.
This means that a higher rate taxpayer making gift of £10,000 worth of shares to a registered charity will receive income tax relief of 40 per cent of the full value, ie £4,000.
In order to make these savings all you need to do is:
In order to qualify for the relief, the shares or securities must be listed or dealt on a recognised stock exchange, units in authorised unit trusts, shares in a UK open-ended investment company or holdings in certain foreign collective investment schemes.
Capital gains tax relief
In addition to income tax relief there is also full relief from capital gains tax, which means that to Forever Manchester the gift is worth more than if you had sold the shares yourself.
The extent of the difference depends on how much capital gains tax you would have paid. To talk to us about gifting shares or land please contact us on 0161 214 0940.
