It’s that time when we all reflect on the past year and start to plan for next year, and for us 2014 will be very special as it’s our 25th Birthday.

Three years ago, due to the dramatic reduction in local authority and government funding we realised that we had to change things in order for us to continue to support the number of community initiatives we have done in the past.

We had two choices: (1) to moan, complain and blame others for the fact that we’d have less to give out or (2) to look for innovative ways to replace the lost income by generating more income ourselves.

Naturally, in true Mancunian style, we chose the second option but in doing so it meant making significant changes to the organisation. We changed our name, we changed our approach, we changed the internal structure and we had a massive push on getting our name out there and developing a number of new and inventive income generating activities.

The last 12 months have been testament to all this hard work and we have been amazed by the number of people and companies now actively donating to us and fundraising for us. 2014 looks even more exciting and we’ve already got loads of activities planned for you to get involved in HERE.

BUT 2013 isn’t over yet and there’s still time for you to do your bit to help our fantastic communities. We’ve got our Surviving Winter Campaign, £1 Christmas Challenge and you can preorder our Christmas special Captain Manchester comic now, which will make the ideal stocking filler. On behalf of everyone at Forever Manchester and all the groups and projects that we have supported over the last year, we’d like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and thank you once again for all your generous donations and fundraising in 2013.
