The Mirror Ball Glitzes its Way to £14,000 for Forever Manchester

The biggest and glitziest event in the Manchester calendar was a dazzling success on Friday night.

The likes of Helen Flanagan, Jack P Shepherd, Jennifer Metcalfe and the rest of the cast of Hollyoaks helped Andrew Trott-Barn and a group of Forever Manchester ambassadors smash their £14,000 target.

The ‘It’s Glam up North’ fairground themed event at the Lowry Hotel attracted a stunning red carpet appearance from the celebs and Manchester guests coupled with a stellar performance by comperes Rob Ellis and Nigel “Wingman” Clucas of Capital FM.

The night kicked off with a special performance from Forever Manchester’s poet in residence, Tony Walsh a.k.a. Longfella, who performed his Forever Manchester poem ‘This is the Place.’ There wasn’t a dry eye in the house after Tony walked the guests down the memory lane of Manchester’s vibrant and tumultuous cultural history.

The evening was topped off with an hilarious show from Britain’s Got Talent finalists, Faces of Disco. Their Mancini and Alex Ferguson alter-egos danced arm-in-arm at the ball whilst Coronation Street classic, Simon Gregson, puckered up for Forever Manchester by kissing guest and Corrie fan, Sarah Knight, who donated £250 to lock lips with the star.

Andrew, who launched The Mirror Ball three years ago after surviving a brain tumour, was delighted with the success: “We definitely proved that it’s Glam up North and the atmosphere at this year’s event was even better than previous years. The icing on the cake for me was the auction – myself and the team are so grateful to everyone who donated this year’s lots and helped us to raise over £14k for Forever Manchester.”

We’re already excited for 2014 … We shall go to The Mirror Ball!
