MaD Theatre Company will be donating £1 from each ticket sold for ‘Gin and Chronic Arthritis’ at Bury Met in June.

As a ‘birthday present’ after performing at our 25th birthday at The Midland Hotel, MaD Theatre Company will be donating £1 from every ticket sold at their performances on 24th and 25th June this year, held at Bury Met.

The group performed 15 minutes from their latest production, which will now be supporting us with every ticket at our 25th birthday. The performance was very well received and the group thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity given to them by Forever Manchester. One performer even said: “I can’t believe I performed in front of people that paid £85 a ticket, I only paid £80 to see Beyonce, I’m proper made up!”

We have been fond supporters of the work that MaD Theatre do since 2008, funding them on various occasions and promoting the positive work they do across Greater Manchester. The group are also featured in our impact report, which celebrates 25 years of Forever Manchester.

Of the donation, Rob Lees, founder of Mad Theatre Company said: “We wanted to show our gratitude for letting us showcase the play at Forever Manchester’s 25th birthday by donating £1 from each ticket we sell. The theatre holds 180 people so it is possible that we could raised £360 over the course of the two performances. It was a huge privilege to be part of Forever Manchester’s 25th Birthday.”

Here’s what they had to say about Gin and Chronic Arthritis:

“Marilyn is not your typical Nanna. She drinks Gin for breakfast, ice skates every Tuesday and has numerous internet lovers. When one of these men, Wheelchair Barry takes her to a psychic night at the local pub Marilyn gets a message from her childhood sweetheart from beyond the grave. She is over the moon but Barry is consumed with jealousy.”
