Jean and Ged’s Journal

May 22, 2015

Our monthly fanzine sees columns from all the team at FM HQ. Jean and Ged make up our Business Development team, and this is their monthly instalment…

We’ve got a busy month ahead of us with lots of meetings in the diary and 3 networking events already lined up, as well as some great fundraising events such as the Greater Manchester 10k Run and the Forever Manchester Golf Day at High Legh.

We kicked off the month with First Friday, our own networking event, which is always well worth you checking out. Nearly 100 of our supporters crammed into Lock 91 on Deansgate Locks and were treated to a live set from Rum Thief. If you plan to come along to June’s First Friday book early ‘cause if the sun’s out we’re expecting a bumper turn out again!

Many of the local businesses who come to First Friday are already supporting our Greater Manchester Million Campaign – helping us to raise £1m each year to support local people in our communities and it’s because of them that we were able to award £1.3M in grants to over 300,000 Greater Mancunians last year alone!

Incidentally, we’re looking for sponsors for First Friday so if you’re interested give us a call or drop us an email. We work with a fantastic family of businesses including global brands like
the Hardrock Cafe, Barclays and Kelloggs as well as exciting local firms like CDL, Express Solicitors, Regatta,, AutoTrader, Harrington Brooks and ANS to name but a few and we work really hard to make sure we keep all our supporters informed about the difference their support makes.

This year, we’re hoping to bring you all together to recognise your efforts and celebrate the impact of your support so we’re adding an extra event to our diary – our first Corporate Partners Lunch at Cloud 23 in the Hilton Hotel which we’ve scheduled in for 8th July, it will be a fantastic opportunity for us all to meet fellow Forever Manchester philanthropists in one of Manchester’s most iconic venues.

So, if you’re a Forever Manchester Corporate Partner, look out for your invitation to this exclusive event dropping on your doorstep from Nick.

Finally this month it struck us that as we travel around Greater Manchester meeting some wonderful people working in some wonderful companies we also come across some wonderful office spaces. So we thought we’d use this page to share some photos with you of some of the offices that are our favourites. This month’s photo was taken at The Gate Films, based in Ancoats, the Gate are a film making and production company well on their way to raising their first £1,000 for Forever Manchester.
