It’s officially Caketober! What’s it all about?

October 13, 2015

It’s officially Caketober, our annual month-long celebration of all things cake.

Caketober raises money to support community projects across Greater Mancheseter.

So far nearly 60 companies and community groups have already signed up to join in the fun and help raise lots of money.

Throughout October, we are encouraging the great and good of Greater Manchester to bake and sell cakes in order to raise money for Forever Manchester.

Our intention is that businesses, community groups and friends across the region can get their staff, volunteers and friends in the kitchen showing off their skills.

Everyone can then pay to sample each other’s work, enjoying some delicious cakes as well as raising money for a very worthy cause.

We also want to see people in fancy dress wherever possible, with further collections being held to raise even more cash for Forever Manchester.

You could even put your own spin on things with prizes for the best/worst efforts!

This year, we’re spicing up Caketober and bringing a little friendly competition into the mix. As well as delicious cakes and the warm glow that comes with supporting charity, you’ll also be in with the chance to take away the prize for:

  • Best dressed cake
  • Best dressed person/team
  • Most successful fundraisers*
  • Most successful cake sale from a Mancunian coffee house

* Don’t worry, we know that teams and groups of all sizes will be Caketobering…that’s why we’ll be working this out based on headcount. We might be ruthlessly pitting you against each other, but we are being fair about it….!
