The fourth instalment of Forever Manchester Women took place on Wednesday 27th January at Tattu Manchester sponsored by Merrick.
The event raised £2,235, which is a new record for our women’s event, which first launched in April last year.
The night was enjoyed by all, with beautiful canapes served, which included duck spring rolls, prawn and lobster toast and more delicious selections from the dim sum menu at TATTU Manchester. The welcome cocktail was a beautiful elderflower and lychee belini.
We had two speakers at our event, who were both inspiring in their own ways. The event was sponsored by Merrick, a team of highly experienced family lawyers, who help people through the trauma of a relationship breakdown.
Jayne Hynes from Kiddyum spoke about how she created her own frozen food brand aimed at babies. Her journey from Chartered Surveyor to creating a food product, which is now exclusively on the shelves of Sainsbury’s was very inspiring for all in the room. Jayne spoke of how she was often up late on Sunday evenings creating meals for her newborn in order to give her a healthy, balanced meal, which she often didn’t have the time to prepare during the week due to her busy work commitments. Jayne realised there was a gap on the market for a product like hers and spoke of her innovative story of idea to shelf, which wasn’t as plain sailing as she’s initially hoped, but still equally as inspiring to those in attendence.
After Jayne, Judith McGarty of INspirED Stockport, a community project based across the Stockport borough giving adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health problems, low self-esteem and any other issues they may have faced or be currently facing the opportunity to gain new skills within IT and computing for free. Judith’s story of an older lady who lives alone in Stockport and emails her children and grandchildren in Brazil particularly tugged on the heart strings of attendees when she mentioned, that thanks to INspirED she learnt how to open a photo attachment and therefore gained two years of beautiful photos of her grandchildren in a matter of minutes.
Huge thank you goes to all of our raffle prize donors, who were a massive help in the event raising as much as it did. This includes; Harriet Sutherland, Space NK, Deborah Tootell – Travel Counsellors and Terence Paul Hairdressing.
The next Forever Manchester Women event will be held at Slater and Gordon’s offices on Wednesday 20th April. Keep your eyes peeled on our website for tickets becoming available.
