The first Forever Manchester Women event of 2017 took place on Wednesday 18th January in the South Terrace at King Street Townhouse, raising an amazing £1,340.

The event, kindly sponsored by Slater and Gordon, saw over 60 women enjoy the great views over the city centre from the terrace while enjoying prosecco and canapes. Our speakers for the evening provided insights into their careers and businesses.

We heard first from Michelle Ball, Director of Jump Nation, who told us about how she established the first indoor trampoline park in the UK, starting from scratch after seeing similar sites in the USA. Michelle explained about how the business plan evolved and its funding strategy.

She also provided an insight with her top 5 tips for establishing and managing a new business such as delegation, establishing robust processes and treating staff well.

We then heard from Kathryn Eckersley, Scheme Manager for Home-Start in Salford and Trafford. Kathryn told us about the valuable and varied work of Home-Starts across the UK and the support they provide for families via their volunteer network.

She explained about some of the issues they face such as domestic violence and debt problems as well as mental health problems. Kathryn has since been contacted by some of the women attending the event offering to volunteer.

It was great to see some genuine networking in such a friendly environment.

The next Forever Manchester Women event takes place on Wednesday 19th April from 5-7pm – check the website in the next couple of weeks for details on how to sign up or join the mailing list.
