Forever Manchester’s friendly caped crusader Captain Manchester has taken time out from his busy superhero schedule to help deliver seasonal food parcels.

He delivered the parcels with Your Housing Group to residents in Grove Village, Ardwick in time for Christmas Day as part of the housing association’s Your Manchester Challenge. Staff sourced and delivered 1,250 seasonal gift packs to residents across Greater Manchester who are struggling to afford basic everyday essentials and often have to make the choice between heating or eating.

Wearing a homemade costume, Captain Manchester has been taking to the streets of Manchester helping people carry their shopping, handing out umbrellas while it was raining and aiding people moving furniture promoting Forever Manchester’s ethos of playing your part in your local community.

Captain Manchester says, “It was great to help out with this amazing project. If everyone in Greater Manchester took it upon themselves to do one good deed a day, what a huge difference it would make. These people are the real heroes.”

Kate Forrester, Director of Your Housing Group adds, “I’m so proud of how hard our Manchester teams have worked to put together these parcels; they are really making a big difference.”

“We want to thank Captain Manchester for coming to help us today. He is on a mission to make life better for others, which is exactly what we’re trying to achieve through our challenge and we are privileged to have him join us to help deliver our seasonal gift packs in Ardwick today.”
