Since launching our First Friday club at the end of 2012, we have carved a niche in informal networking attracting an eclectic mix of people and businesses to our monthly events.

Most businesses networking events involve traditional suits, swapping business cards and delivering a 60 second elevator pitch to anyone that will listen, but not at First Friday. First Friday is a business networking event for people who love Manchester. It’s based on the simplest form of networking – finding common ground and sharing ideas over a pint and a packet of crisps.

You may ask why a charity organises such events. Forever Manchester is all about connecting communities to benefit the lives of people across Greater Manchester.  The region’s business community plays an important role in supporting local people – whether it’s providing job opportunities or products and services for local businesses and people to access. So the role of First Friday is to connect businesses as well as providing the opportunity to meet our team and find out more about how we can work together to help our local communities.

In July we turned First Friday into a special Summer Social BBQ which attracted over 200 people. The event, held at Barca in Castlefield, was captured on video by Resolution Visuals, a Manchester based creative agency that produces unique videos for. James Taylor, MD of Resolution Visuals attended our First Friday club in June and commented, “I thought the evening was amazing. I met loads of interesting people from a whole range of businesses. I love everything that Forever Manchester stands for. We wanted to offer our support so we volunteered to record the Summer Social for them.”

Our next First Friday event takes place on Friday 2nd August, 4-6pm at the Town Hall Tavern, 20 Tib Lane, Manchester M2 4JA
