We’re pleased to announce Archie Kelly is to compere our 25th birthday celebrations, sponsored by Metronet UK.

Our compere has kindly been sponsored by Voicescape, who provide a range of easy to use cloud-based communication services.

Although Archie is best known for his role in the award winning Phoenix Nights, he also appeared in another award winning series called The Street.

Archie first emerged onto the alternative comedy scene as Jackie ‘Mr Goodtime’ Valencio with his hilarious parodies and vocal impressions. He later went on to become a headline act at Manchester’s Comedy Store with this act.

A good reputation as a compere precedes Archie, with his northern wit and great comic timing, which we’re sure you’ve seen in the characters he’s played on stage and TV.

In Phoenix Nights, Archie played Kenny Dalglish Senior. Kenny was a known liar, who often made up elaborate tales of how he met certain celebrities or how he ended up in bizarre or near-impossible situations. Some examples of these would be waking up in bed next to Bonnie Langford or him playing swingball in Pwllheli with Robert De Niro.

Since Phoenix Nights, Kenny has gone on to do a variety of things, including pursuing his passion for singing and also hosting and organising on-stage live interviews including The Sex Pistol’s John Lydon.

We believe that Archie’s combined talent and love of Greater Manchester makes him the perfect host for our 25th birthday and we look forward to his anecdotes on the night.
