about us

Forever Manchester is a brand new fundraising initiative from The Community Foundation for Greater Manchester.

It’s a collective of people who love Greater Manchester and want to be a part of securing its future, forever.

By celebrating everything that makes Manchester brilliant, Forever Manchester will create an everlasting fund, which promises to make communities better by supporting grassroots community projects in the region.

Final Say

Mancunian philanthropy

Forever Manchester is a new way to demonstrate your Mancunian pride - by becoming a Forever Manchester philanthropist. Purchase a piece of Manchester, attend a Forever Manchester event or buy the T-shirt. Better still, give some money on a regular basis.

In return you get the priceless feeling of doing good in your Greater Manchester community.

What happens to my donation?

Interest earned from the infinity fund will be awarded to small grassroots community groups in Greater Manchester who can apply for a grant.

Government Match Funding

As an extra bonus, for every £1 raised in the campaign, the Government will match it with another £1. That’s fantastic news and what’s more we can claim gift aid on your donation which means a £10 donation could be worth £25.60.

Our target is to raise £4.4 million in the next 3 years.

What’s in it for me?

Not that fellow Mancunians would ask this question! But just so we’re clear, Forever Manchester will improve your community, which in turn will help to reduce crime, anti-social behaviour, poverty and disconnection from society.

So, your contribution will have a direct affect on you as well as creating a happy legacy for generations to come.

How your money can make a difference

Great Lever Voice is run by Val Johnson. Val has a full time job but spends much of her own time as an unpaid volunteer, inspiring, motivating and mobilizing young people in the area who have become disconnected from Society.

Young people enter the project with no aspirations, no qualifications and often lack confidence and self belief and leave the project with something positive, whether that’s feeling confident and valued, or with new vocational skills leading them into employment or further education.

The impact on these young lives is enormous and cycles of inactivity and disinterest have been broken forever. Now these young people are truly participating in civic society.

Abraham Moss Warriors Football Club is a multicultural club with 200 players aged from 5-17 years, from 26 different countries and is based in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, one of the 2% most deprived places in England. The area has many problems with high levels of unemployment, crime, gang culture and drugs.

By participating in sport, the young players are taught to embrace diversity and breakdown racial barriers and to build social skills and responsibilities. The club’s motto is “all different all equal”.

Local Primary School teacher, Vicky Lord, comments that she can always identify children in her class who participate in Abraham Moss Warriors through their positive behaviour and strong social skills.

But it's not just about healthy living, providing diversionary activities and promoting community cohesion; this club means business too! They are FA Charter Standard and have won Charter Standard Club of the year on numerous occasions; 26 boys have had trials with professional clubs and two players have signed academy contracts with Blackburn Rovers.

All this happens as a result of one incredible person who happens to believe in people. June Kelly is a local teacher by profession, in the evenings and Saturdays, she’s the unsung hero that is the powerhouse behind this incredible group.
