60 Seconds with Kiddyum’s Jayne Hynes
We’ve been asking our two FM Women speakers to share a little bit of their story ahead of our event in January. This week, we spoke to Jayne Hynes…
Forever Manchester: What attracted you to Forever Manchester and FM Women?
Jayne Hynes: I heard about Forever Manchester through Kathleen O’Connor, one of the Ambassadors. She arranged for Jean Mills [our Head of Business Management] to visit me and I was really impressed with everything I heard. Forever Manchester is a wonderful charity helping local communities and businesses. When I was offered the chance to speak at Forever Manchester Women, I was absolutely delighted and am very much looking forward to 27th January. I personally find a lot of strength, inspiration and encouragement from meeting other women in the local community and in business and am very much looking forward to meeting everyone on 27th.
FM: What do you love about Manchester?
JH: Pretty much everything aside from…the weather
FM: What’s one thing you’ve struggled with/has surprised you/you’ve enjoyed the most along your journey with Kiddyum?
JH: I have had numerous hurdles and surprises, both good and bad! Some of my struggles have included getting investment, finding a manufacturer that shared my same values and quality control standards, and getting to grips with cash flows and projections. Most of all I enjoy seeing my passion and hard work paying off. I love working for myself, it’s challenging in every way but I wouldn’t change it for the world!
FM: What’s strong and good in your community at the moment?
JH: At the moment, locally there is a focus on food banks and helping the most needy in my local community. Everyone seems to be rallying together to try to support people who have found themselves in crisis during these difficult economic periods. There is also a lot of support for people from a grass roots level upwards despite the cuts in funding to local government. Charities like Forever Manchester are really trying to set the foundations for communities to inspire one another and move their local groups, businesses and ideas forward.
Thanks Jayne, we can’t wait to hear your full story in January!
