105th Manchester Scouts Raise Funds

August 31, 2016

Forever Manchester would like to say a massive thank you to the 105th Manchester Scouts and Explorers Group from Blackley who recently raised some money for us selling food at a local fun day.

In June the group attended an event organised by Friends of Blackley Forest where numerous groups from the area came together to put on activities for the whole community.  Forever Manchester Community Ambassador and Scout Leader Gary Hollingsworth said: “The event is great fun and is fully supported by all the local groups. We sell hotdogs to the public to raise some funds, the profit we made as a group we decided to give something back to Forever Manchester as a way of saying thanks for supporting our Scout group.”

Since 2010, Forever Manchester have helped support the great work the group have been doing to give young people in Blackley a chance to experience the outdoors, learn new skills and make long-lasting friendships.  Projects ranging from building a pedal go-kart, camping and expeditions mean that the group brings together young people from ages 6 and up from all backgrounds in a positive and inclusive way.

Gary also said: “Having Forever Manchester supporting our Scout Group shows that everyone coming together with one aim can make a difference, and this city of Manchester will be a better place for the future of our youth.”

As a charity we really appreciate when groups we have supported can support us to help even more community groups in the future. If you have received support from Forever Manchester and would like to show your thanks by fundraising for us click here or call 0161 214 0940 to tell us your plans.
